Description
Lurking in the dry grasses near our VRBO south of Tucson

I think the subject’s size is just fine. Nice environment, and the dark BG is very effective. Very nice capture.
I like images of animals in their habitat. And this is a beautiful one. No need to make a frame filling portrait, on the contrary.
The grasses are beautiful and the dark BG is a good combination with bird and grass. Maybe a bit more DOF would have been better for the flowers/seeds of the grass, without spoiling the BG.
I like this a lot, Sandy. I do think this might work better as a vertical crop. There’s not a lot going on on either side of the central area and those reed and vertical pose of the warbler just scream at me to crop vertically.
Nice one, Sandy. I like these environmental images when the bird is cooperative in choosing the right setting. I could see some cropping from either side without changing the feel of the image.
I likethe suggestion of a vertical crop, and will do that and re-post next week after we’re back from AZ. Thanks!
Hi Sandy, really nice environmental image. The stunning warbler in its surroundings makes this a special image. I also like the idea of a vertical crop.
I agree with the size of the bird in the image. Love the bird and the seeds. I personally like darker exposures, but it might look better brightened up just a tad. Such a bright little spot of joy! Nice work.
Hi Sandy
I really like the open space around the Yellow Warbler. My on comment on this photograph is you could look at making the Warbler a little brighter.
