About This Image

I woke up from an afternoon nap to see a faint rainbow. Getting to my camera, allowed me to see that my first view was the upper part of a double rainbow, with the main bow sitting barely above my neighbors house. There’s actually nothing unusual here, since the position of the rainbow is determined by how high in the sky, the sun is sitting, but I was sure surprised since it was about 4:30 pm.

Feedback Requested

I’m pretty satisfied with both bows showing nicely and the distant mountains slightly visible between the bows.

That’s pretty cool! I don’t recall ever seeing a rainbow like that. I like the composition and the different layers of color. You might consider cloning those two large posts to the right of the house: For some reason they grab my eye. You sure have a nice view!

Mark,

I’m with Preston in that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a rainbow that low! Ok, maybe in the backyard sprinkler… but not like this - And to have the double rainbow, so very cool! Maybe not so unusual in your neck of the woods!

And is that snow on them thar hills? Nice bonus!

You didn’t mention any processing and I’ll just come out and say my observation is that the clouds come across as a little noisy? It’s not bad by any stretch, but observable at least to me, above the lower rainbox. Even at the low rez jpg, I ran that thru Topaz with some improvement. Again, no biggie, but thought I would mention.

Also, I can safely say that I’ve never woken up from an afternoon nap to this kind of view!

Very cool and very different. I don’t think I’ve ever seen one like this. Rainbows can be pretty artistic.

Add me in to the crowd that hasn’t seen one this low, the sun must have been pretty high. love the double rainbow and the distant mountians.

My only suggestion would be to paint your neighbor’s roof the next time they go on vacation so it doesn’t clash with rainbows so much…

Hi Mark,
This is so cool! What a treat to see when waking up from an afternoon nap. Like several others on this thread I too have never seen a rainbow this low to the ground. My only suggestion would be to clone that white pipe sticking up from the roof. You certainly have quite the view from your home.
