An Owl with an Attitude

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Burrowing Owls seem to be a highlight of a Malheur visit and I was fortunate to see five in four locations. This one was easy to spot, standing on a post alongside the road, but the owl certainly wasn’t as happy to see me as I was to see it.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

These birds always look angry. This is a really nice shot of this one and the pose accentuates the “angry” look. Your information must have been better than mine. I’ve never managed to find these at Malheur and I’ve looked a number of times. I really need to get back there soon.

Sweet look at this fellow/lady! they do always look angry, with those eyebrows. Excellemnt eye contact, detail, pose, and environment. Burrowing owls are always such fun; I didn’t know there are some at Malheur.
Lovely shot!

Thanks, @Dennis_Plank and @Sandy_Richards-Brown for you kind words. Dennis, I just spotted them along the road, where for some reason, they like to hang out. 3 sites were on Ruh Red Road and one on the main highway-fortunately no one was behind me when I came to a quick stop and made a u-turn.

Thanks, Allen.

Oh man – that is a drop dead look with a couple of suitable epithets behind it! Nicely captured and presented!

Hi Allen, love those eyes fixated on me! What a look. You handled the back lighting quite well with good detail in the shadows. Well done.

Oh Allen, I just love owls, and this makes me green with envy that you were able to spot this from the road. I have yet to photograph an owl in the wild! Such a great shot. He is giving you the look. That rim light helps make him stand out nicely.

Reminds me of my French teacher at school. We experienced “beaucoup de malheur” with him! Excellent shot, Allen.
