Description

This is a lens blur of a small stand of aspens and maples in Vermont a few years ago.
I miss the fall colours here in Oregon - we have little more than an occasional specimen of a liquidamber.

Excellent color palette; a beautiful, artistic abstract. Wall-hangable.

Beautiful, Sandy. Nice retention of the feel of the aspens with the color of the maples.

You caught a lovely flow of shapes and colors here! The nice thing about ICM is that you can sometimes get away with a less than ideal subject, although it looks like you had a good one here. There is a wonderful rainbow flow of color across the frame!

It’s a lovely shot. I like the white trunks and branches and the array of colors. There’s a nice high-key feel to it.

One nitpick: the trees are all leaning. I tried straightening the tree trunks just to see how it would look. You might want to consider it.

@Don_Peters
Hmmmm. Yes! Thanks
(There was a stiff wind, and they WERE leaning, but straight looks better…
maybe ? )

This has such a nice color palette Sandy. I’m not convinced that straight trunks are better here though. I can see either of them working just fine, but I think the leaning trunks are more artistic. Print and hang it.

I’ll toss in my two cents (probably more than it’s worth), but I find the leaning trees more pleasing to my eye. Even the slight lean seems to give me a sense of flowing through the scene (i.e. looking left to right rather than bottom to top).

Interesting idea on straightening! But straight at the bottom has some lean to the left on top. (It looks like @Don_Peters’ version has a little less divergence? The OCD part of my brain says play with a bit of Warp as well. I’m even wondering about a 180 or vertical flip… But in that case I’d probably crop out the straighter trunks that woukd then be on the top. But any variation is wonderful.

This image jumped right out at me. I love the pastel colors and white verticals. Without knowing what was the subject, it is beautiful. I agree with the original slanted version.

Thanks @annlouiselyman @Ed_Williams @Dennis_Plank @Allen_Brooks @Diane_Miller and @Don_Peters for your valued input.

I’m going with “slightly” slanted! Final edit posted. :slight_smile:

Works for me, Sandy. The slant in the original didn’t bother me.
