Aspens at LeHardy Rapids

Image(s)

Image Description

This small clump of Aspens alongside LeHardy Rapids always seems to look great in the fall. I stopped by yesterday to check them out and suprisingly there was only one “Duck”, so the usual cluster of bird photographers was missing. As you see here, their colors were looking good and (of course) standing out well from the surrounding pine forest.

I like the mix of fall color against green and the movement of the rapids. In bright sun, the falls splashing gets frozen well while the texture mimics the trees.

Mark: Did you sneak into my hard drive? I have an almost identical shot from our trip in the Fall of 2011. Wonderful scene and I like what your SS did for the water. Any with slower SS for the silky look? Makes me want to go back. >=))>

Wonderful color and composition! What makes it special for me is the variation in both color and light in the aspens.

Hi Mark,
I too am liking the yellows of the aspen against the darker green of the pines as it makes for a wonderful color combination. Originally I was going to suggest a crop, but after downloading and playing with a few crops I think you nailed it. Did you happen to shoot any with a slower SS for the water as I think that would work as well. Very nicely done.
