The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I have been real busy and trying to get going again and get caught up. Shot this image today and thought i would post it. My passion for B&W Photography is so high right now. Saw the Sun coming though this plant and took a few shots.
Specific Feedback
Did I over Edit this image. Tried to make it look Old School Film Vibe
Gill, this is a very original flower shot. Like you, I do like B and W where it suits, and it suits here. I do wonder if the top tapered into a point, so would welcome an alternative shot including that top part, maybe with more black on either side. I really like the grey “drapes” on the sides too. Well taken.
Beautiful backlit skunk cabbage, Gil. These are a difficult subject and doing it backlit worked very well. I do agree with @ Mike that one showing the tip would be cool as well.
Thanks. My interest was the plant inside the other. I went in close to try and capture the texture. So the top and bottom naturally bleed off the page. Sort of Edward Weston framing.
Gill, this works well as a B&W, but I am not familiar with the plant, so don’t know how it would have looked in color. Well down shooting it backlit. Nicely done.
Thanks. I’m becoming more and more a B&W photographer. In color it looks like a postcard image. The back lighting makes this image work. I think some light in the front would have made the plant pop out a little more. But I’m pretty happy with it.
