This one’s pretty much just for fun. I was going through an old trip to Ridgefield and found this goofy looking Great Blue Heron and I just couldn’t resist it.

What technical feedback would you like if any?

What artistic feedback would you like if any?

Did I succeed in conveying the goofiness? I took this as a full length vertical of the bird so it’s a pretty large crop and I didn’t want to try to go with just the head.

Any pertinent technical details:

7DII, Sigma 150-600 C @ 600 mm, balanced on car window, f/8, 1/1600, iso 800, aperture priority, pattern metering, -1/3 EV. Processed in LR & PS CC.

Great expression Dennis. Superb detail and background.

I like this quite a bit. Can be hard to get a nice pose/expression with a head-on shot like this. I was surprised how much DoF you had until I saw the aperture. Good choice there. IQ great and the BG is very complimentary.
