Description

The Rambles, is the area in Central Park where it seems that most of the birders and birds congregate. There are paths going every which direction and I’m constantly lost and turned around. It’s also dark resulting in high ISOs. It’s one of my favorite places to bird. Our trip this year was poorly planned as it was a bit early for the warbler migration, but still, there’s a lot to see.

The birds shown here are common and plentiful. The White-throated sparrow, uncommon here in Oregon, is everywhere.

Specific Feedback

Any thoughts appreciated.

A nice collection of eastern birds, Allen. The female Cardinal you led off with is to me far and away the best image. the light is gorgeous, the perch is interesting and fits the pose of the bird and the lighting and the background also works very well with the rest of the image. The others are nice shots of birds and technically fine, but the first is art.

Dennis said what I would have said.

Another vote for the first one, and I like the sparrow composition too. I’m amazed that warblers pass through NYC, but I guess it attracts everything!

Very nice collection of images of eastern birds, Allen. I too like the first one best of all but you have a nice collection here that would fill some wall space if you have it.

I agree with all the other comments, especially about no. 1 being art. It is quite remarkable.

Thanks for your comments, @Dennis_Plank , @Don_Peters , @Mike_Friel , @Shirley_Freeman , and @Jim_Gavin . The female cardinal was my favorite as well, which is why I led off with it. Mike, Central Park is a huge migrant trap for birds on their way to their breeding grounds in Canada. There was a documentary on this several years ago called “The Central Park Effect”.
