The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Went our the other morning and noticed the blanket flowers were looking good with morning dew on them, so I took some shots. This was the best.
Specific Feedback
Does the bud in the upper left add or detract?
Technical Details
Sony A7Rv, Sigma 28-70 f2.8 @ 49.9 mm, f/11, hand held, iso 1000, 1/320. Processed in LR & PS CC. Cropped to 5891x5891. Microcontrast enhancement using an old Topaz plugin to bring out the dew, brought down the luminosity of the background and boosted that of the flower a bit.

Totally gorgeous – both the flower and the dew! Wonderful color, the BG is handled just right for my taste and the bug and spider web in the corner adds a very nice balance to allow a slightly off-center composition. Think I’ll just sit here and enjoy it a while!
Dennis: A perfect bloom perfectly captured. We have these in the spring but most everyone is so enamored with bluebonnets and paintbrush that the blankets don’t get much play. I especially like the square crop with the flower off center. Superbly crafted image. >=))>
Flower bud delicately adds to the upper LH corner without making a distraction from the subject. Blanket flower and dew are nicely separated from the BG. You may want to warm up the WBC with a slight tweak as there is a very subtle cyan cast to the scene. Other than that, a well-crafted scene with a very strong comp. Nicely done…Jim
That’s a beautiful flower Dennis, and I just love the way a photograph can let you really appreciate all the wonderful details.
I don’t mind the bud in the corner, but do wish it was offset by something in that lower right corner. I don’t know what was originally there (maybe you plugged those shadows to conceal?), but if there was greenery in all four corners I think the balance would be just a tad better.
One of the details I love here is the dew on the flower, and it shows up really well in a black and white:
Dennis, this is a lovely look at this dew covered flower. I think your luminosity adjustments are right on target, letting the flower stand out, while showing the background decently. I like the bud as it promises more joy to come.
