The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
This a follow-up on my first post of the bloom with dew. This is the same bloom about 7 days later and in the full sun. I have removed the background and the green is from the grass that is too far away to have any focused items. There is some CA on the lower left that i could not remove - all suggestions accepted. I am hoping that the opening bud in the foreground will lead the viewer’s eye to the rest of the image.
Specific Feedback
I wonder if the lower two out-of-focus buds are distracting ?? Also, depending on your monitor, it seems it may be a bit too dark??
Technical Details
Using a Sony a7RV, this is 30 stacked images using a Sony 100mm macro lens.
The out of focus buds don’t bother me much in this composition, Taiyo. I don’t think the image is too dark-some of the brightest areas look as if they might actually be blown out, though that could be the angle of view which can eliminate detail on a smooth surface. You could bring up the shadows a bit in your raw editor to take care of the darker shadows if you think they’re too dark. If you have a bit more on the left, you might add some back in as the closest bud feels a bit crowded there to me.
Taiyo, what a great find and I love the BG on this. I think @Dennis_Plank has provided some good suggestions about pulling the shadows down some. Also, a bit more room on the right as he suggested. I like how the stem is at a diagonal across the image.
Taiyo: Great subject and a fine comp. I’m not a fan of the OOF buds and since the BG is so uniform cloning them away is easy. I also brought up the shadows in the stem a touch and added a few pixels on the left.. These are pretty minor refinements but I think they make an already fine image a little better. >=))>
