Chaos?

Image Description

Like most folks who visit Shore Acres SP in Oregon I’m hoping for a big surf show and I’ve been lucky enough to catch a couple of really nice events. But I’ve also found some interesting images to be had on the cliff faces. This part of the cliffs never disappoints and I had a lot of fun extracting comps on a trip where the waves were less dynamic. >=))>

As an avowed color junkie the broad spectrum caught my eye. The orange strata at the top is the top of the cliff so raising the camera a bit would catch a sliver of the sky which I didn’t think would work at all. Your thoughts?

I think you made a wise choice in leaving out the sky here Bill. The image works very well with what you have, and the sky would have been a distraction. The placement of the colors and textures is good, with the orange color on the top and the browns and grays down below mixing well.

Hi Bill,

Well done! This image avoids stereotypes beautifully. I had to look, and look again, and then had a big smile on my face. Nothing like some ambiguity to make a photograph really immersive.

Bill, there’s a lot of interesting “stuff” going on here. There’s clearly a major geological unconformity as the tilted rocks give way to horizontal rock layers. The reds along the top contrast with the overall quiet tones in the rest of the view and there some interesting growth. I agree that no sky adds well to the view.
