Clearing storm in southwest

I was driving along in the rain and the rain stopped. A few minutes later the clouds broke and I pulled over and got this shot. The god beams only lasted for ten minutes or so then the sky rapidly began to clear.

The sun rays there are beautiful, and a beautiful element in the photo. They seem to have brought out a really great spectrum of color in the rest of what you captured there–an effect I’ve often noticed when a little bit of sun shines through clearing rain/fog.

I am thinking a BW conversion, but then I am a sucker for B&W.

What a special moment. I like the overall soft feel of the image. I wonder if reducing the contrast a bit might strengthen that feel (if that is what you are trying to convey).

An unusual and special scene. I do wonder about a little less color saturation – it’s a difficult balance with an image like this where subtle color is a strong element.
