First off, David, I feel your ‘pain’ in terms of them never being close enough! Yet to be at 900mm, with that 1.4 on there, assuming you were at 600mm at the time you made the image, you were pretty far away. I do like the timing with the wings, just barely touching (or not) the water, and the reflection. I think it would be better not to have the bright blue of sky at the bottom of the image, it pulls my eye there; other than that, the image looks fine. The main concern is that cropping in 60% limits the size of a print you might make, but for now, if you are just working on your skills, this is a great result! The more time you spend photographing them, the greater your chances of being ready when they are closer, I speak from experience, lol.
Hi David, a nice in flight pose with downward wings just touching the water. Really intriguing with that reflection also included. Love the green water as a backdrop. Agree with Brenda concerning a crop from the bottom. Well done.
Wonderful timing with the wings touching the water! I wonder about some tweaking of the WB – there is a lot of brown here, and then try to pull up more detail in the darks – the shaded wing might have some detail to be brought out. The histogram is all in the left half. Worth a little tweaking!
Nice catch, David. I do like the pose with the wings touching the water. There’s always something very appealing about that, regards of the species.

I tried to get back to all of you about the cormorant picture.
I had some problems with the website this morning and couldn’t post attached to this picture so I wound up posting another image, actually the same one with the suggestions that were made. I’m sure you can all find it on the site. Thanks for your suggestions.
