Dawn at Yaquina Head

This is Yaquina Head Lighthouse on the Oregon Coast. We were staying in Newport, Oregon for my birthday and I had the chance to get up here for sunrise. Fortunately the moon also cooperated. One of the few times I actually got a moon that’s not blown out. Taken on my birthday.

Specific Feedback Requested

I suppose I could raise some of the shadows, but rather like it darker as it highlights the wonderful tones in the sky.

Any comments appreciated.

Darker looks more natural given the time of day. It would have been better had the smaller building not be almost level with the horizon, but sometimes that can’t be helped. Great job not saturating this to death and keeping it soft and balanced.

Wonderful!! I love that you got the moon, and in perfect position (and exposure!) Wonderful sunrise colors – the shadows work for me.

I would keep it as it is, David! I think all the colors and the shadows in the foreground give it a nice subdued mood. Very beautiful!
