And a RP to allow more room for them to fly into. And a correction — this was at Bosque. I should have known from the light!

Description
The soft light of winter / spring has given way to the harsh light of summer where I live, so I’m trying to get some chops back for ICM (and find the ND filters). I poked around in the archives for some inspiration and found this one that I’m pretty sure I never posted. It is from 2010. Shot in NE during the migration through there.

All comments welcome!
Technical Details

Blurry land cropped from the bottom and a small bit added to right and top. A few odd bits cleaned up on the edges.

Beautiful light in this image, Diane, and for my taste the shutter speed produced some very nice blur.
Love this Diane! Very pleasing rendition of the blues and I especially like color contrast with the golden sunset hues beneath the wings. Very cool.
I’ve experimented with some birds - mostly gulls, commorants and brown pelicans - of course along our Pacific Coast. Definitely a hit and miss proposition!
Good job with the framing/filling give the bird motions some room.
Dear Diane, it is a beautiful image with strong diagonals, great light and interesting blur of the wings and bodies of the cranes. If I were to suggest anything, I would suggest more negative space to the left and at the top, allowing the suggested movement of the birds to continue unhindered. Thank you for sharing this image.
I love this Diane. Particularly the golden hue under the wings of most of the birds. Incredible that you were able to get every single bird with their wings in the down position. I’m with @Leo_Catana about adding some canvas to allow the birds more room to fly in the direction they are headed. Otherwise, I have no nits at all.
Oh, and you beat me to the blurry bird image. I’m just submitting a blurry bird of my own.
Thanks, @Dennis_Plank, @Lon_Overacker, @Leo_Catana and @David_Haynes! My initial thinking was that since the larger, more prominent birds are toward the right in the frame that there was enough room to fly into, but I see your points about adding canvas, and did a RP above. Also removed the bottom bird, which felt a little out of place. Thanks for the nudge!!
When I looked at the crop I wasn’t sure if it was obvious which direction they were flying, but the cropped-off land/trees at the bottom shows I was panning up and to the left to keep up with them.
