Desolation Pier. Colour or B&W?

Or both?
Leica CL, 18-56

Hi Jaapv- personally, I prefer the color image. The piers on the left are heavy and take up a lot of visual space. In the color image, the green of the algae seems to balance them out, but that gets negated in the B&W image. I really love the light and shadow play in the clouds, and also the sort of negative space in the blue sky, as well. As a whole, the image is terrific- with the pier ruins, and the water way in the distance, I get a little of a sense of desolation in a beautiful wilderness. Lonely, but not maybe alone. I rather enjoy this photograph.

I prefer the color as well. Perhaps if you added more drama (texture) to the sky in the b&w it could compete with the color version. I agree that the presence of the green algae gives something to the color version that is absent in the b&w.
