My mother-in-law and father-in-law have been living with us for the last four years and their health has steadily been declining. My wife came up with the title of this image in reference to the pain and struggles of their aging, wanting to move on to a better place, and yet the gate has remained closed for them. It also reminds us even when the pathway is dark it is still beautiful.
