The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
I took this image at workshop held at a dude ranch in Wyoming. A short time earlier, a herd of horses was driven by which raised the dust. This rider trailed the horses.
I have always liked the effect(s) that dust creates in an image.
Specific Feedback
I have left the tonality of the image very close to its original tonality. The shadows were darkened a bit to add some contrast.
Technical Details
Shot at f/8, 1,000, Auto ISO at 400 and a 100 mm focal length. Uncropped.

This is gorgeous, Richard. I like fog for exactly the same reason (and most of the year it’s more common around here). Have you considered a border on this one? The light gradient going up to the top of the image keeps trying to pull my eye out the top and a border might put a stop to that. That’s the only nit I can come up with.
Stunning! What a wonderful capture. The ethereal quality created by the backlit dust is beautiful. I like the silhouetted horse and rider which are perfectly placed in the image. Nicely exposed and composed. Just being nit picky, the only thing I see is the tiny arc of sky at the top of the trees on the upper right at the top.
Very cinematic, Richard. The dusty lighting is great, and I like how the backlighting hits both the horse’s mane and the cowgirl’s hair. Also the lighting of the FG scrub is attractive. It’s all good.
This is a terrific shot, Richard. I’m a big fan of backlight and you use it well here.
Although I like it very much as is, I find the empty space in the upper left corner a little distracting. You might consider a crop along these lines. Or not.
Dennis, Chris, Mike and Don: thanks to all for your comments and suggestions. I have added a frame and like the end result. Rather than cropping the photo I cloned in some tree in the upper left corner.
Last, thanks Dennis for the EP.
I missed this earlier but very happy I got to see it now, with the very well-deserved EP – congratulations! The lighting and composition are wonderful and any of the version is a winner for me!
I missed this one also! It’s a beautiful image. I can smell the sweet sweat of horse, leather and dust. I love how the riders hair is echoed in the horses mane.
