This is a mid-October view along Soda Butte Creek with the golden fall grasses and willows set off against the recent snow in the high country. Watching the snow on the peaks come and go is a major part of the seasonal transition in Yellowstone (and other places with high mountains).

I’m happy with the mix of colors and textures a well as the long view up to the high Absoroka peaks. The overcast lets the colors in grass and willows show well as it adds a bit of drama to the sky.
Mark: Such a wonderfully beautiful place and the conditions make it even more so. I like that you have some texture in the sky with the clouds adding just enough interest. The amount of sky works well for me as well. Top notch image of a top notch place. >=))>
The gray clouds and gold grass are a good combo to have in this landscape. I like the transition of grass to coarse gravel separated by the creek. I like this one as presented…Jim
Mark, this is a fine look at a transition taking place almost a leap if you will forward. As I sit watching our summer temps in the 90-100 + ranges I look urgently toward the next season.
I have some images that are a real reflection of autumn into winter that are some real favs for me too.
Although your scene here makes a bigger impact for me with the inclusion of the foreboding sky. Wonderful look here…
