The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
It’s been a cold winter, so there’s lot of ice to explore. As the weather warms and the ice starts to melt, the melting edges take on a variety of wild shapes that in some cases offer Birefringent colors. This one struck me as a wild wolf, enhanced by all of the colors.
Specific Feedback
There was a leaf under the water on the left that attempting to remove would almost certainly have damaged the ice, so I’ve desaturated and darkened it.
Technical Details
R5 180 mm macro, 1/10 s, f/10, iso 800 tripod and polarizer. A 39 shot stack for dof.

I see the wolf head in this, Mark. You have presented another spectacular image of ice with the Birefringent colors as well as neat shape. I have enjoyed them very much but I am ready for spring! It has been a cold winter.
Mark: Makes me want to howl . I generally prefer your frame filling comps but this one works well for me. Spectacular color. Is it brought out by the polarizer the same as with a rainbow? And are you stacking because of the angle of the camera to the subject or for another reason. At first glance this looks like a pretty flat focal plane. Regardless, this is pretty spectacular. >=))>
@Bill_Fach, the birefringent colors change dramatically (and can even go away) depending on the angle between the camera, subject and the sun, so this was shot at an angle to the ice for maximum color. It is also quite close, the entire view is less than 3 inches across.
Mike, I’ve learned the hard way to overshoot if I’m looking for full frame sharpness. Then I discard the extra frames that have gone soft before stacking.
