The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
On a recent hike, while crossing a bridge over a frozen stream, I looked down for any interesting ice patterns. I spotted one area of interest but could get no closer than six feet, so composed what I could. After viewing the image at home and cropping somewhat, I realized there might be a diamond in all that ice.
Specific Feedback
All comments and suggestions are welcome and specifically on composition and exposure.
Technical Details
Canon EOS R50, 18-45mm lens @ 45mm, ISO 400, f/6.3, 1/125s HH. Post processing included exposure and sharpness adjustments. I purposely made the bluish background darker to highlight the ice formation better.

Very cool (sorry) formations in that ice, Jim. I like the crop you came up with for this with the smooth curves contrasting with the strange dendritic growths. Nicely done.
Jim: Really good find and a superb capture. Frankly at first glance this comp made me uncomfortable. I didn’t like the extra ice on the bottom left as it pulled my eye away from the main body. So I tried a crop and came up with this
but that wasn’t perfectly acceptable either. Then I hit upon flipping it so that the flow of the image goes left to right and now it feels good all around. Our cultural bias toward viewing things naturally left to right is important for viewing images sometimes and I think for me this is one of them. Over to you. >=))>
Hi @Bill_Fach , thanks for putting in the time to improve my image. I do like the “less ice” crop and your flip puts more emphasis on the star of the show. Trying to get used to my little gremlin facing left instead of right, lol. I will leave a note to Mother Nature to proceed accordingly .
