Taken this morning at a local wildlife hang out. The out of focus background pattern is a bridge.

Excellent detail on both the cattail and the Red-winged Blackbird, David. I think I can detect a hint of noise in the plumage, but it certainly looks excellent at any reasonable viewing distance. While the structure of the bridge is fairly easily detectable in the thumbnail, it pretty much disappears in the larger version.
An excellent shot, David, and impressive detail with that high of an ISO. Love that you caught him on a cattail. She looks different than our Red-winged Blackbirds, so either they are different on the west coast, or, I have yet to see a female of this species. Quite possible the latter. Anyway, great cpture.
I went to this location 2days in a row. I must have seen 4 or more female RWBB on the first day but none on the second day.

Nice look at the female on a classic perch. Detail looks good. I could see playing around with the background, either blurring it more or changing it.
I feel I’m beating a dead horse with all these questions to you, and I apologize, and appreciate your responses. But, I’ve got to ask how much NR you did on this image. I guess Dennis has better eyesight, but I can’t say I see any noise and at 12,800 the image is remarkably good.
