Finally a break

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

This Osprey was photograph in back of the Conn. River, on Aug.1, at 7:55 AM, from the Zodiac.
This seems to be a favorite place for the grownups to take a break from the nest and have breakfast.
Thank you for stopping by.

Technical Details

Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm & 1.4ext, f10, 700mm, 1/1600, ISO 1600. This is a 60% crop and I used a local control point to bring down the sky some and I also adjusted the Osprey’s whites, in DXO PhotoLab 7.

Excellennt image, Peter! Very interesting snag for a perch, nice position of the eagle with a great head-turn, a bit of tree to provide colour, and a nice diffused BG. Fine detail, and he/she even has a fish!
A very strong image - well-done!

Superb depth of field, head turn, and comp. Detail is outstanding.

Good pose and detail and the fish adds to the interest. The Osprey pops nicely against the background .

Very good image of this Osprey, Peter. I like seeing a hint of the tongue. There are some very out of focus light colored branches in the background that I could see cloning out as they’re a slight distraction, but nothing major.

Hi Sandy, David, Allen & Dennis
Thank you for the comments, Dennis here is a repost, with a stab at cloning ( cloning is not a DXO high point). Sandy this an Osprey .

Your “cloning” worked quite well, Peter.

Duh! Of course!!

Nice catch!! I think you could crop quite a bit from the L and top. No need to center the head in a comp where he isn’t moving. That will make the interesting subject larger in the frame and make the fish more obvious. I would be tempted to tone down the OOF greenery just a bit.

Hi Diane
Thank you for the comments, I try to keep crops above 60% or 3,000 pixels, I rechecked the numbers and this crop is around 70%, at 2472 pixels. Here is post with the greenery down 10%.
