Floating Rainbow

While visiting ponds at the Oregon Garden, I happened to notice this rainbow floating on the surface of the water.

Chris, there is a spot here in MD where I sometimes see this effect, caused by a thin film floating on the water surface. This is a great example with excellent colors and interesting patterns. Nicely seen.

Thanks, Mark. The patterns were all over the surfaces and were basically colorless, but intriguing. However, when the sun shown through a break in the branches above, the color exploded.

Yup! Superb abstract rainbow. This is usually caused by a thin film of an oily substance on the water surface.

Chris: A terrific find and a great capture. I like how you arranged this in the frame as well. Nicely done. >=))>

Thanks, Bill. I was excited to find it. I ended up with a series of them.

Chris, this is really a nice find, and very nice capture as well.

Thank you. Not sure what the cause of the oil floating on top was. It sure made interesting patterns, though.

Thank you very much, Shirley. I was excited to find it.
