Flying Flicker

I was shooting this female northern flicker taking a drink at our backyard birdbath recently and barely managed a capture of her flying off. I am always on the lookout for an action shot showing their magnificent wing and tail feathers. This was in harsh, midday sun and has a busy background but I loved the glowing orange wings. I know it’s a tight crop. What say you?

Woah, those wings are something! Looks like you did something with the background and missed some that lead from the top of the primaries and diagonally downward behind. I wish there was a bit more crispness. A faster shutter speed might work here if you get another chance. The crop looks ok, but only if it was sharper. With this level of softness, I expect a looser crop.
