Fountain Geyser

I managed to catch Fountain Geyser erupting on the last day that the roads were open in Yellowstone. While Fountain is not predictable, it does erupt for 20 - 30 minutes at a time. (R5, 24-105 @ 93, 1/800 s, f/16, iso 800, tripod and polarizer)

Wonderful detail and tonal structure with the whites against the grays!

It’s hard to tell what’s steam and what’s cloud; that’s a cool effect.

How tall is this fountain? It’s hard to tell from the photo.

I could see darkening the foreground some so it stands out a tad more from the fountain?

@John_Williams, this geyser can shoot up to 50 feet. This photo was one of it’s tallest spurts. There are two other geysers nearby and there’s some linkage of activity, so most of what’s below the contrail and on the right side is steam, while the darkest bits along the top are shadowed clouds.
