Fresh Catch

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I was watching this Osprey for some time from Outer Island as he circled over the water until he finally made his dive. Always a thrill to see them come up with the “Catch of the Day.”

Technical Details

Fuji X-H2, ISO 640, f/8, 1/2000, XF 70-300+ 1.4x @ 420mm. Post processing included modifying exposure, increasing sharpness; had to crop quite a bit since he was far off.

Hi Jim … i’m a big fan of ospreys and really like this image. Maybe a slightly tighter crop would allow us to see more details of his body. And i like his shadow, perhaps the cropping would help us to see the shadow more clearly. Still, very well done. Thanks

Your timing was excellent, Jim, and I like the Wing position a lot. I wouldn’t crop any further as I’m starting to see some digitization of the osprey’s features at this size.

I like the composition as is, Jim. Good job on tracking the Osprey and getting the shot.

Thank you @taiyo and @Dennis_Plank for your critiques. Would love to crop more but figured it was just about at the limit already. I kind of stretch the 40 megapixel sensor to the limit and this bird was probably 1/2 a football field away, lol!

@Allen_Brooks , thanks for your comments!
