From Spring To Winter

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Return to winter - temperatures have gone from five days in the 50’s to this - likely to dump several inches of new snow by morning. I was interested in highlighting the snow in my backyard and tried this abstract for the least distractions.

Specific Feedback

Your overall critique is appreciated. Are there color casts that should be adjusted.?

Technical Details

Nikon D750 - I did not fret over settings was more interested in affect.

This does a good job of conveying a snow storm to me, Larry, though I think a horizontal presentation might have more impact, but that’s largely due to the horizontal orientation of our screens that tend to limit size a lot more in the vertical direction. If you printed this about six feet tall and put it just inside a doorway, it would probably make people look for somewhere warm.

Thanks for your comment. I’m glad the abstract of the snow gets the point across. I understand your thought about shooting this vertical. I hope we don’t have any more of these storms to shoot horizontally this year. I appreciate your input.
