Ben, I don’t know how you manage to find the most enticing light, but you’ve done it again. This is really striking. I like the diagonal water edge and the dark above and below set off the wonderful light on the shore grasses. Excellent.
Great one, Ben! I think what is interesting for me about this one is how the crop and the light lead me to explore the shadows in the background the most. I enjoy the tiny little dots in the reflections of the water as well!
Ben,
You knack for finding, composing and capturing light continues to amaze. While this one isn’t necessarily as dynamic and compelling as say, your last post… it is still a wonderful capture of light. And the frozen surface comes more to life in the larger view, for sure.
Two very small nits for me. And I’m not sure why I get so picky… I guess I go by my own thought process - to" make an image the best it can be…" Anyway… The center tree is nearly touching the edge of the frame… not a big deal, but if ever going to print you might think about that. Also, the tiny patch of blue in the LLC; maybe paint over a little more dark brown or mitigate some other way like burning down. Again, both very, very minor.
Oh, and I find diagonal scenes like the, like a receding shoreline, to be the most difficult to compose. And with your crop have made this comp work nicely.

I like your parks Ben. I find myself exploring the spots in the water the most here Ben. When zoomed way in they really peak my interest. The strip of warm light hitting the bearded grass with dark boundaries on top and bottom really set the scene off. I agree with @Lon_Overacker about the small blueish section of water in the LLC and also with the top of the tree getting cut off in the center of the frame. I see a bunch of light leaking in from the top of the scene so that’s probably why you cropped where you did and I get it. It may be the better of two evils. Lovely scene either way Ben.
@David_Bostock , @Lon_Overacker , @David_Haynes , @David_Wallace , I am amazed like you can show me those little points of improvement . To make my work better. Thank you so much for that !
