Getting a drink

I was in my brothers backyard and noticed the bees getting a drink. So I wondered with the clam waters could I get a reflection. I used my 6D ii and the 180 macro with a diffused flash, mainly the time of day it was so needed more light. Hand held. iso 800 1/100 sec f/20 The focus was on the eye and I did have to move around some as she kept shifting positions

Oh wow, Dean, I really like this. The details in the bee are very nice. I’m not familiar with the term “clam water”, but I think you got a pretty nice reflection in it. I also like the bubbles in the water. I am noticing a ring of green around the edge of the bird bath or whatever he is on, which indicates chromatic aberration. Otherwise, I think a fine image.

Fantastic Dean. The details in the wings and the reflection are spot on. Great catch and very nicely done.

Looks great, Dean. The reflection is a special bonus.

Thanks. This was a small fountain in his backyard/ I wondered about the reflections and she placed herself well

Dean: A really unique opportunity that you carried off superbly. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen a bee drinking. Many kudos. >=))>

Beautiful image showing one of the behaviors of honeybees. Honeybees gather water for hydration, evaporative cooling in the hive, and for dissolving crystallized honey. Composition is excellent and the reflection is quite a bonus for a macro shot. Awesome…Jim
