Gimme Shelter

Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

My wife and I took a small ship cruise in Alaska in 2017. We spent a couple days in Glacier Bay and passed by the aptly named Shelter Island. The island has a small colony of mountain goats. How they got there is a bit of a mystery, probably over the ice before the glacier retreated. The goats apparently are thriving and have no natural predators. We waved to this fellow as we sailed by but he seemed totally disinterested in us. All comments welcome. >=))>

Excellent image that fits the topic very well. We were on a similar cruise some years ago and sailed by the island, but we did not see any goats. Your photo brings back some fond memories.

Bill, this is like viewing mountain goats in Yellowstone…they’re a long ways away and hanging out on high, rocky peaks. Even through binoculars, you’re looking for white “dots” on grey slopes. This tells the story of their behavior well.
