The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
Taken a few days ago in southern Thailand. Rhyothemis (the flutterers) is my favorite dragonfly genus because of the colorful wings. This one is found in South-east Asia, not further east in Korea.
Specific Feedback
I couldn’t get close, so, without a telephoto lens, had to crop and sharpen quite a lot. Is the fringing around parts of the body and wings excusable?
Technical Details
D500 with 105mm+TC1.4. 1/640 f13 ISO 2000
After basic Lightroom adjustments, Topaz Denoise and improved Levels, Shadows/Highlights in PS. Final dose of Topaz Sharpen. Cropped strongly.

Mike, this is another outstanding DF image. It has a stained glass appearance throughout, not just the colorful hindwings. I love the darks, I love the clear spots that look like it has been chomped on by another critter. I also don’t think you could have gotten a better BG to showcase this one. Nice work.
The extreme cropping has given it a more stylized appearance - as if it’s an illustration rather than a photograph, but oh it’s such a beauty. Too bad you can’t have them in your backyard. Or mine! Such amazing color and I love how the wingtips are clear. Proportionally the wings are enormous compared to the rest of it. Great pose it gave you! What a treat.
Mike, what a beauty this is. I just love the colors of the wings. Hey, in photography, sometimes we have to deal with the subject, weather, equipment, etc., and get what we can of the rarely seen subjects especially. It is fringed some and looks more illustrated that a photo, but at least you got a shot and shared it so we that don’t ever get to see this beauty can enjoy it and know that it is in existence. Thank you.
This is gorgeous, Mike, and a fine presentation. You asked about the fringing and I had to open the largest image version to find it. When I have to do that, it’s fine. Only the pixel peepers would ever notice. You could print this at thirty inches and no one would notice.
@Shirley_Freeman - when you say : “you got a shot and shared it so we that don’t ever get to see this beauty can enjoy it and know that it is in existence”, you put your finger on one of my main reasons for taking this (and many other) shots. Thank you!.
