Green Heron coming in to land

Rainy day at the beach here (on vacation) so I’m looking through old files to post. Here’s an image from 2019 from my neighborhood lake.
This year the green herons have nested at the dock again and I’m looking forward to seeing the chicks soon.

Great pose and positioning, Allen. Were you using a flash? The light on the bird looks like it. Nevertheless, it’s an awesome catch all around. Well done.

Hi David, no I didn’t use flash. The background is the lake reflecting trees that are in the shade.
Thanks for the comment.

Excellent landing shot, Allen. That wing position is just perfect.

Nice curled wing spread, Allen. It stands out so well against that background already, but catching the subtle white curved on the neck really is the perfect highlight to help it pop just a bit more.

The lighting on this is very nice. I like the wing position. Well composed.
