Okay, now for the Flora Critique version of - Guess What This Is
A hearty “Like” button will be awarded to the first person that correctly identifies what this bit of flora is. A few clues, this is an extreme close-up (approx 1.5 life size), is only part of this type of flora, it grows in the wild, and was taken in Massachusetts in the month of August.
What artistic feedback would you like if any?
Any comments or critique are welcome

Ed, it looks like my skin after being attacked by mosquitoes in the field…
I’m guessing a closeup of some form of cactus? A real stab in the dark for me…
It is indeed a water lily seed pod head. And here is how it looks with a more normal view, but in a slightly different stage of growth than when I shot the posted image.
I include this image in a slideshow of abstract nature photography that I have presented at a number of local camera clubs. I always ask the audience if anyone can identify what it is, and very few people have correctly identified it.
Ed: My first guess was an anemone center but I see the pod now after the reveal. This is very cool and very nicely done. Is this a water lily or lotus pod? Inquiring minds want to know. >=))>
Thanks Bill, I am not a flora expert, but I think my image is from a water lily. I was only able to get this shot because it was taken at a National Wildlife Refuge where they had drained a pond to remove some invasive plants, and I was able to walk out in the mud where the lilys normally would have been in water.
Oh yes, but as I also said it looked like my skin peppered with mosquito bites. And, I know Massachusetts has mosquitoes. If not I’ll be moving there soon……LOL
