The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
We planted some cleveland sage near our porch because we like the scent it gives off AND its cool little blossoms attract lots of stuff like this female anna’s hummingbird. It was in the bright, late morning sunlight and the deeply shaded house wall provided the contrast.
Specific Feedback
It’s a bit of an unusual subject and environment so I had to scratch my head some on deciding how to crop it. This is what I decided. Yeah?
Technical Details
D500, 200-500 lens, monopod, 1/1000th, f 8.0, 1050mm, ISO 1800, cropped to 2609 x 1866

Great image, Dave. The flower alone would make for a pleasing photo and the hummer, with excellent detail, takes it over the top. The crop/composition works for me.
Crazy rolling shutter wings! At least that’s what it looks like to me since I get the same thing when I shoot these guys. I like the lighting and how it picks up all the little details in both flower and bird. I can imagine how good those plants smell, btw. Nice choice. I think the crop works fine although you could do a horizontal flip and see if it has more flow for you.
The composition works fine for me, Dave, though when I have a black background, I like to put a thin border on it to separate it better from the computer background for those of us who use the dark mode on NPN.
The flower is really beautiful and the hummer brings it up another notch. Interesting that the top of the tail turned almost blue-I don’t think I’ve seen that on an Anna’s before, so I’ll have to look for it.
Hi Dave
There is a similarity to the frame between the Sage and the Hummingbird. The coloring and detail on the Anna’s Hummingbird are very nice.
