Such a cool moment. I watched this eagle circle once, then come in for a landing on a perch that was to the left of this frame. At the last second, he/she decided that wasn’t the plan and made a very quick bank to continue flying towards me. I was locked on despite focusing through falling snow and light fog. A true testament to the capabilities of modern AF systems.

Keith this is an incredible moment. Well done. I like the eagle in the background too. I’m just exploring BIF photography, hoping to get better at it. The fact that your AF kept tracking with sudden shifts is fantastic. Were you using Subject Detection or zone AF?
Definitely cool – in the vernacular sense! Unique catch of action and setting, with wonderful detail. The trees are a wonderful BG!
Hi David: Bird Subject Detection. Great technology.

Keith, this is a fabulous shot! I love everything about it, the pose, the snow, the falling snow, the distant eagle and you got those talons. Very, very cool.
Great job in capturing the moment. The eagle is incredibly sharp and I love the pose. The falling snow, the foggy trees-brrr. And the eagle in the background is a nice bonus.
Great focus, with a fine head position. I love how the colorful eagle contrasts with the almost B and W of the rest of the scene.
Great capture! As @Mike_Friel commented, beautiful contrast between eagle and the rest of the scene. The second eagle in the BG is a bonus.
I agree with all above and the images tells a great story loved it

Excellent, Keith. Great “pose” from the eagle. I hope you took some landscapes during the snow-it does very cool things to those trees in the background.
