The red, yellow and green fit well into one half of the colour wheel, showing great colour contrast. The pollen is bright and sharp, a clear focal point which then leads down the stamen to the remainder of the flower. Well done, a great image.
Lovely colors. Great detail. You’ve done a good job with the composition. Just enough of the flower to give a hint of what it is. The lines and textures are alluring. The side lighting really spotlights the focus of the image.
Powerful, bold colours straight away — the reds are beautifully rendered, and the backlighting really brings the centre to life. It has a strong, almost graphic feel to it.
The detail on the stamens is nicely handled, though there are a couple of small blown highlights where the yellow pollen sits, which could be tidied with a light touch of the heal tool to keep it more consistent.
Overall, a very striking macro — probably one of my favourite macro shots to date.
Will: I just posted a wider angle of a similar day lily but I really like your tight view here. The lighting as already mentioned is marvelous. Striking result >=))>
Will, this is a great, tight look at these stamen. Their glow is accentuated well by the petal colors behind. The curves add a good sense of motion. (How fun to have you and @Bill_Fach posting views similar flowers. It’s like going on a photo outing where you get to see how everyone’s vision differs.)
The lighting here is really stunning. It’s as though the flower is lit from within and the anthers are are on stage for an encore. Really lovely image. I too like seeing this alongside Bill’s shot of a similarly colored lily. Such wonderfully vibrant colors.
