This little guy was working the lawn at a local University near the California Coast. He was quite cooperative with the photography session.

Nice look at the junco. Good detail and good exposure on the black head. I like the composition, showing a typical junco environment.

Very cool, Ed. I didn’t realize the Oregon race went down the coast. Nice detail in the plumage and the color looks great. A little lower angle would have been nice, but that’s probably a severe challenge with the jump boot.

Nice look at this Oregon junco. I have only seen one down here once. Nice pose you caught. I could see eliminating the bright stalk thing in front of the bird.

Thank you @Allen_Brooks, @Dennis_Plank and @Allen_Sparks. I was surprised when we moved to this area six years ago to see these Junco. I think they’re here mostly in the winter/spring.
