Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Suspended in flight, this pelican caught my eye as it drifted gracefully through the sky. Its wings, with sharp black tips, cut through the air with ease, while its steady gaze hints at an unwavering focus. The stillness of the scene made it feel like time had paused just for this single shot.

This one looks so smooth and clean Saundie. It has an interesting angle of ascendance. Great light, and well focused to capture the entire pelican.

This image is perfect for BWā€“lots of delicate grays and the white highlights on the head and neck help pull the eye towards the head of the pelican. Comp is pretty good, but you may want a little bit more space on the left for framing purposes. Otherwise, an awesome pelicanā€¦Jim

Beautiful light and perfect wing position on the pelican, Saundie. If it were mine, Iā€™d probably move it just a touch further right in the frame, but thatā€™s pretty subjective.

Excellent image.
I like the B&W rendering. Nicely done.
IMO you have a bit more space for the bird to move into than is needed. I would try moving the crop to the right and up a bit.

Really nice black and white Saundie. Very nice tones throughout and the BG provides a great backdrop. Agree on the crop suggestions above. Well done.

A lot of your images have shown how well black and white can work for birds and this is no exception. The pose gives a nice sense of upward motion. I guess Iā€™m in the minority, but I like the crop as is-itā€™s a large bird and needs space to move into.

Thanks so much for the feedback! I have adjusted the framing of the shot slightly as suggested. Thanks again

Didnā€™t take much, Saundie. I really like the repost.
