Critique Style Requested: Standard
The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.
Description
We have many Baltimore orioles that visit our feeders and this one is the brightest colored of the bunch. It takes about 2 years for the males to develop their vibrant plumage and many first year males are mistaken for females.
Specific Feedback
Perhaps, I should have brightened this one up by a small amount. What do you think?

HI Jim, what a striking bird. Lighting looks good to me as the oriole contrasts so well with the background. The colors and dark areas on the bird look well rendered to my eye. This bird is slightly angled away from us so wishing for a bit of a head turn but that is often not granted. Beautiful image.
For me, the colors and brightness looks good, Jim. Blacks are handled well and I like the perch and background.
Very nice!! I tend to go too far bringing up darks but I can’t criticize them here. The eye shows well and that’s important, and all the tonalities feel well-balanced. Would be worth comparing a slightly lighter (overall) version but I’d have a hard time deciding if it was better. I wonder about a slight crop to make him bigger in the frame?
I’ve never seen one and am surprised how much the colors resemble Black-headed Grosbeaks. Our Orioles are yellow (Hooded) to a striking international orange (Bullocks). I don’t mind the pose – he’s obviously interested in something offstage.
The brightness looks fine where it is for me, Jim. It allows the richness of the oranges to come through beautifully and the blacks look right where they should be to my eye. Nice perch and background in this one.
