Layer upon Layer

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

As part of my long-term project to photograph in our local forest, I came across these layers of ferns and understory trees filling a small gully. I was captivated by the layering of color and texture.

Specific Feedback

I would appreciate hearing your first impressions, thoughts on composition and cropping, and any other comments or suggestions. Thanks!

Technical Details

This is a two-shot focus stack (which I do a lot in the forest to allow a faster shutter speed and greater dept of field). I wanted the layers of ferns to be sharp. Sony a7RIII, Tamron 28-200 at 45mm. F8, 1/60th, ISO 3200.

My only small criticism is that it looks like you should have used a polarizer to remove some of the glare on the leaves. I like the composition. Maybe a little crop off the bottom the remove the brown leaf and dark shadows.

Thanks Michael!
