Lesser Goldfinch

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

I like this for the semi-environmental feel and the light shining on the goldfinch. The leaf in front of the tail is a negative, but my feeling is that in order to remove it I’d only be guessing as to what the tail actually looked like and while I do background pruning, I don’t like to potentially alter the look of the bird.

Hi Allen
Like one of the directors I work with send “if the looking that …(leaf)… we miss the whole point of the seen.” The eye contact and lighting is one an only point of interest in this photograph. Nice work.

Very nice, Allen. The leaf isn’t an issue with me. As @peter said, it’s not about the tail, it’s about the look the bird is giving you.

Oh cool - I don’t think I’ve ever seen one of these birds. Nice eye contact and a good look at the head and body. Agree with comments above. Good catch with nice details.
