I thought this was a decent look at the Goldfinch and I liked the clean background, though I did remove a small branch above its head.

Very nice clean look at this one, Allen. Nice eye contact and head turn and the detail in the feathers is excellent without being overdone.

Hi Allen, I think you handled the harsh side light well keeping detail on most of the bird. Pretty yellow colors with a nice background.

Handsome portrait of that Goldfinch Allen and the BG is very nice, different than the blues and greens commonly seen. Very nice detail in the feathers but he has to learn to use a napkin on his beak after eating to clean up a bit :grin:. Great lighting too, soft and even.

That little fly-away feather is great! Superb details - I’ve never lived where these could be neighbors, so it’s a nice treat. That little dirty beak is also great. Terrific feeder birds are finches. Do these guys change colors during the year like American Goldfinches?
