Description
After a rather boring winter, in the last couple of weeks we have a profusion of birds, and I’m stealing some time to try to ambush some of them. Last spring we had almost no Goldfinches and this year there seem to be a lot.

All comments welcome!
Technical Details
Minor tonal tweaks in LR, denoise in PS and a crop to about 50%. Minor retouching on the branch.
Diane, a beautiful goldfinch and capture! A perfect composition.

Hi Diane, wonderful pose, detail, and background. I like seeing the end of the stick too. As mentioned above, yellows look great. Glad you are seeing birds now. Our winter was a long slog of little activity here.
Very nice job on the goldfinch, Diane. I rarely see these this far north, but it looks like they have the same penchant for vertical perches as the American goldfinch. Plumage detail is excellent adn you handled the yellows very well.
Thanks, @Susanna_Euston , @Allen_Brooks , @Allen_Sparks, @David_Schoen, @Glenys_Passier and @Dennis_Plank ! I think I’ve only seen one American Goldfinch here!! No idea why, as they are supposedly common here. Maybe another species that the Acorn Woodpeckers drive away? Same for Chickadees, Butterbutts and other woodpeckers – I see them in town but not out here.
Thanks, @Peter_Morrissey ! So many of the birds here are on the drab side and these little guys are such a spot of happy color, and they are more tolerant of close approach than most others.
