Leucistic Red-tailed Hawk- a rare color form

Critique Style Requested: Standard

Description

An incredible color variety of a Red-tailed Hawk. Bird was sitting on a pole so I waited for takeoff and shot at 1/2500 sec with somewhat filtered sun around 9 am.

Hi Larry, really interesting color on this hawk. I’ve never seen a leucistic hawk before. Details on the bird’s head are spot on and I like the pose. Maybe a little more room on bottom and right. Nice catch.

Excellent detail and eye contact in the hawk, Larry. I really like the take-off pose. I do agree with Allen on a bit more room.

Oddly, we had one hanging out here (10 miles south of Olympia, WA) all summer. I don’t know if it will return, but I have hopes as I never managed a shot at it.

Hey Larry, Great capture. What a terrific look at the talons, head and wings. Really good detail also. I would like to see more canvas at the bottom of the frame but there maybe something there that precludes you from including it. The only nit I have is bright spot in the lower left side of the frame. You could probably selectively bring that down a touch. Was this out at San Jacinto? I haven’t seen you for a while.
