Description

Spotted this little lady working over some coneflowers near our house. I got a lot of keepers and some with the entire wing and head in the plane of focus but most of those had problematic BG and I liked this BG better by far. I wanted to keep focus primarily on the head and eye and was OK with letting the DOF fall off. The pose reminded me of a ship/sailboat listing to one side, thus the title.>=))>

Specific Feedback

Is the DOF /POF too far off?

Apt title, and another tack-sharp image!
I love the colours and the BG.

This is really a beautiful Image. Sharp and framed really nice. Amazing quality at 1600 ISO. I am learning that today cameras work real good at high ISO… That will give more room for shutter speed in my way of thinking … Great job on your image… Well Done Bill !!!

Bill, she is a beauty for sure and stands out nice against the nice BG. Wonderful details in the face and eyes, and I am with you, I can deal with the DOF just fine.

Beautiful, Bill. I love the perch and composition and , of course, the butterfly is wonderful. As you noted, the background is really nice in this image. Well done.

Bill, the angled view does a fine job of filling the frame in a dynamic way. The details look great and are where they are most important. Since these bfs like to “stroll” around the flower, this fells very natural.

I like everything about this. The subject, environment, background, DOF. I think it’s a real keeper. Well done.
