Little Blue Heron Gets a Cajun Treat

I thought my arm was going to fall of waiting for this guy to make the strike…which he did but turned his head into the foliage so I couldn’t get the strike. Nice though that he turned back toward me before he swallowed it whole.

Specific Feedback Requested

I had a had time getting the Heron to stand out against the BG as all the elements in the shot were pretty close to the same tonal range. I was afraid to darken the BG any further, but would like your opinion.

Sensational. I think this is an excellent catch, Chris. Both you and the bird. :slightly_smiling_face:

Wonderful detail! The BG tonalities look fine – the light is soft and the color and detail in the heron make for good separation.

I think this is great! The background behind the crawfish helps it stand out. Very cool action shot. I am now looking up etouffee recipes.

Very nice shot. I think the tones in the BG are fine and don’t need any darkening. The bird and it’s catch are sharp and their colors really stand out. The pose is perfect. Nice job, Chris.
