Hi Ben,
I always thoroughly enjoy your woodland images and this one is no exception. The light is quite lovely; especially on the left side of the frame; and the vertical format does a wonderful of of emphasizing the tall lines of the tree trunks. I could see just a touch more room on the right side, but that is minor stuff as this beautifully done. Another great haiku.

My initial thought when I saw this is a forest scene where birds are chirping in the canopy. This is probably due to my watching ‘Fitzcaraldo’ last night where Herzog would use a bird soundtrack to make you feel as though you were in the jungle. Whistles and screeches. A temperate forest would of course have different sounds. But when the light passes through the canopy like in this picture it seems to me that they get excited and become more animated.

BTW, I like that you included the forest floor and didn’t just cut the trunks off. It tells the whole story. I also like that the trees look elongated. Good seeing on your part. Or rather, good feeling.

Oh that’s nice Ben! This drips with mood and intrigue. The tall vertical and the layers of receding tree trunks is very inviting in a mysterious sort of way.

For me, the light flows from the darker right in diagonals to meet at the center left. To help that flow, you might play with reducing the luminosity of he sky bits in the upper right.
