Description

Lots of flowers early fall which the bees loved. I took my macro lens to see how close I could get. These bees are so focused on the flower that they do not seem to care how close I get. I have found that photographing insects with a sunny day with a nice layer of high clouds. This composition I like very much, thank you bee.

Specific Feedback

I did crop in mostly empty space to the right and bottom, not much cropping. Does the subject need more room on the lower right. The bee is the subject, but I wondered if the soft flower needed to be sharper.

Hi Dean,

I like the lighting which is nice and soft with subtle shadows. Leading edge of the eye is close to being out of the limit of the DOF for this lens setting. Its only noticeable in the largest view and can be fixed with some selective sharpening and using a smaller aperture for future shots. Comp is perfect and the dark BG helps show off the subject. Detail is just awesome in this shot, Dean. I really like the lighting on the bee.

Wonderful catch! The soft focus on the flower lets the bee stand out and the controlled contrast from soft light is just right. A lovely, simple composition with a wonderful BG!

I like everything about this, Dean. I never knew honey bees have a small fork at the end of the proboscis. Maybe used to feel for nectar?

Dean, this is a fine look at this bee. I like everything about it. No nits for me. I finally got out and took a bunch of photos, mainly of wading birds up in Virginia. Hopefully I can get some of them edited soon a post on here. I did take a few in the macro, but very few. Saw some bees on flowers at one of the hotels I was staying at in Virginia.
