Spring is here

Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

Flowers are starting to bloom here more and more bees are coming out. I wanted to see how the other camera would do with the bee photos I like to do.

Specific Feedback

I darken the background but is it still bright. Any distractions, the plant is dense.

Technical Details

Canon r6ii RF 100mm f/2.8 macro. 1/1600 f/13 ISO 6400 I am trying to set up C2 custom for bee photography. still learning

Incredible detail in the hair on this bee, Dean. Nice angle and you must be getting very close to these to do this with 100mm.

Wonderful details in the bee, Dean. It is all about the bee, the BG isn’t distracting to me. Well done!

Dean, this is truly “eye popping” and not meant as a pun by any means. Detail throughout is amazing. Clicking on your personal icon you mention you’re working hard on photographing bees. Seems as though you’ve mastered the macro work here… :+1:

Dean: One of your best and if this is not a drastic crop you’re doing really well to get this kind of frame filling result with a 100mm. Besides the terrific detail on the bee I also like this BG much better that some of your previous. Superbly crafted image.>=))>

Thanks for the comments, @Bill_Fach , @Paul_Breitkreuz , @Dennis_Plank , and @Shirley_Freeman. This home we moved to in July has a wonderful bush that maybe 100 bees at a time love every day. I sit in my small pop up chair about 18 inches off the ground. Then get right to the edge of this large bush. I have dark clothes on so they seem to leave me alone. This camera was full frame, so I had more wiggle room to get the bee in the FOV. The canon r7 works better but I have very little wiggle room. They also don’t sit on the flower very long, but there are many of them

Tack-sharp and great perspective!
Congrats on a fine EP!

Dean, the bee is amazingly sharp throughout. That (and darkening the surroundings, subtly) let it stand out nicely from the surroundings. A fine capture.

Dean, I love how the flower frames the top part of the bee. Really sharp! Congrats on the EP.
